We have been decorating our homes since time began – just look at prehistoric cave paintings and the very earliest of pottery fragments decorated with thumb prints, animal hides, leather and woven cloth. There seems to be something deep within us that makes us cocoon ourselves in our homes, not only to protect those we care for most, but also to express to others who we are. I have overdosed on these home-making skills and there isn’t an inch of our house undecorated by handmade lovelies. For this Englishwoman, her home is her castle. As it is easier to be lost than found, I have made a key tidy for my house key.
